Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of the ruling Awami League attacked the quota protesters while they were heading toward to the Rajshahi University main gate with flag procession from Binodpur at 4:15pm on Monday.
Vice presidents Mizanur Rahman Sinha and Ahmed Sajib, organizing secretaries Mehedi Hasan Mishu and Abid Hasan Labon, assistant secretary Abdullah Al Mamun and activist Kabir Manik beat up Tariqul Islam Tareq, masters’ student of RU Islamic studies department and also joint-convener of RU unit of Parishad, with iron hammer, rod, machete, and sticks, causing severe injuries to his head, legs, hands, neck and back.
RU unit convener of the Parishad Masud Monnaf told The New Nation that BCL men attacked upon their procession in front of the university administration and law enforcers, injuring a total of ten leaders and activists of the Parishad.
However, BCL RU unit general secretary Faisal Ahmed Runu denied the beating allegation and said that they only resisted those who were trying to make the campus turbulence.

Acting on secret information that the dacoits are taking preparations to commit a daring dacoity in the port town police of Mongla PS raided the residential area of the town at mid night and arrested them from an abandoned place of the eastern part of the town.
At that time police seized some modern appliances for cutting grilles and breaking the locks of the doors, a big knife known as Ramda and cash Tk.65 thousand from their possession. They are the members of inter-district gang of dacoits. A number of cases are pending in the different Police Stations of the country against them on the charge of committing dacoities.
In this connection a case was lodged with Mongla PS against the arrested dacoits. They will be produced before the court.
