RU Correspondent :
Thousand of teachers of Rajshahi University Wednesday strongly protested the remark of Finance Minister AMA Mihith in regard of their (teachers) agitation against 8th national pay scale.
Teachers demanded immediate withdrawal of minister’s comment.
AMA Muhith on Tuesday noon came down hard on the teachers of 37 public universities who have been demonstrating for separate pay scale and revision in 8th national pay scale since May 14.
Muhith questioned about the knowledge of the teachers saying “the most educated section of our population has gone for such a movement due to their lack of knowledge”.
Protesting his comment, RU teachers under the banner of “Rajshahi University Teachers Association (RUTA)”staged a human chain in front of the university senate building demanding immediate withdrawal of it.
Speakers at human chain said, the minister’s comments were not only unnecessary but also incoherent.
Teachers also questioned the eligibility of AMA Muhith as finance minister adding they said, “he must have to seek apology from the university teacher for his such type of illogical and derogatory comment.
