Students search folk-instruments in Chalan Beel area

The students of Folklore Department of Rajshahi University (RU) have recently went to Chlan Beel (Natore) area to search for folk-instruments.
They will conduct a ten day ethnographic studies throughout the area.
A total of 60 students from first year of folklore department have participated in the field work led by department teachers Dr M. Akhtar Hossain and Dr M Amirul Islam.
A press conference was held in this regard at the folklore museum of Syed Ismail Hossain Sirajee building.

Liberation based film screened

‘Cinemar Naam Khujsi’ (seeking name of cinema), a liberation war based short film was screened at Rajshahi University (RU) on Monday.
The film was screened at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium in the evening while more than five hundred visitors watched the film.
The film was directed by Toukir Ahmed and produced by Food Print Production.
The film focused the bitter experiences of a child during our liberation war 1971, director Toukir Ahmed said.
According to the script of the film, Helen, a nurse who hurriedly rushed to Bangladesh from California (USA) to give medical aids among the vulnerable and downtrodden people who were the victim of war in 1971.
She used to move frequently to different Medicare aids camps and Hospitals throughout the country for assisting the war-victim.
She was compelled to stay at Natore for a parent-less child, who was leaving unconscious state at the floor of Bonhi Hospital of the city. She used to nursing the child under her supervision.
Later, the child discovered himself at a closed room surrounded by huge panic, sounds and light.
At last, the child was come out from the room at 16 December sensing light of an independent country.
The director Toukir said, the youth would be more inspired about our great liberation war after watching.
The visitors also expressed their satisfaction after watching the film.

UNYSAB model United Nations confce

A four day United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangldesh (UNYSAB) Model United Nations (MUN) conference, a shadow UN conference for the youth has kicked off recently at Rajshahi University (RU).
UNYSAB and Rajshahi University Model United Nations Association (RUMUNA) jointly organise the programme to be continued till November 1.
The MUN is a model of the UN committees where students participate as delegates of their respective countries and engage in constructive negotiation on various issues.
At least 250 students from 9 countries including Bangladesh are expected to attend the conference.
Meanwhile, 38 students from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afganistan and some others countries have registered to attend the programme.
Narayan Chandra Chanda, state minister for fisheries and livestock, will inaugurate the programme.
