Rajshahi University (RU), the country’s second largest higher education institution, will celebrate its 61st founding anniversary today amid much enthusiasm and fanfare through various programmes.
To mark the day, the university chalked out a day-long colorful programme including rally, tree plantation, discussion meeting and a cultural session in the campus.
Administrative buildings, academic buildings, dormitories, and campus streets have been decorated on the occasion.
Addressing as the chief guest, Shahriar Alam, state ministers for foreign affairs of Bangladesh, will inaugurate the programme by hoisting national flag and university’s flag and releasing pigeons in front of the administrative building while Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin, the university’s vice chancellor will preside over the function.
RU started its journey on July 6, 1953 with six departments under three faculties with only 161 students and 68 teachers with Prof Itrat Hossain Zuberi as the founder VC.
