The Traffic Department of Sylhet Metropolitan Police has started the action according to the widely discussed ‘Road Transport Act 2018’.The new law has started proceedings from Monday.
On the first day, 40 motorcycles were prosecuted in the relevant section. Besides, three motorcycles have been sent to police lines by dumping.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police, Zedan Al Musa, said. It is reported that the new road transport law comes into force on November 1. However, the law did not begin to make the public aware of the law and to propagate various sections of the law. After the campaign, today started taking action according to the law.
Police said officers from the Traffic Department of the city have been stationed at Chowhata Point from this morning to start litigation under the new road transport law.
Deputy Commissioner of Metropolitan Police (Traffic) Faisal Mahmood, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Traffic-South, Police Super) Nikulin Chakma, Assistant Commissioner (Traffic-North) Abul Khair, TI (Administration) Muhibur Rahman, TI (Prosecution ) Rashed Mamun Chowdhury and TI Hanif Mia were present.
