Rough sea hampers handling of cargos in Ctg Port

Following the rough sea , the cargo handing in the outer berth of Chittagong port is hampering and the navigation of literage vessels are being obstructed for voyage to outer berth in Bay.
 But the cargo handing in the inner port is normal except bulk cargo unloading. Following the inclement weather for the last few days, cautionary signal No.3 is hoisted in Chittagong Port.
Port sources said, the unloading of cargos in the outer berth from mother vessels was totally suspected on Friday and till today till writing this report. Following the normalization of sea condition , the unloading from mother vessels may take in the evening, sources said. Port sources further said there are 36 vessels anchored in outer berth laden with wheat, fertilizers, raw sugar, cement clinkers etc. Port Director (Transport) Sarwar Alam told that 19 vessels in inner port are functioning with unloading of cargos and 17 are in waiting to take berth .
The unloading of containers is continuing uninterrupted . The controlling authority of literage vessels- Water Transport Coordination Cell Chief Executive Mahbub Rashid told this correspondent that a few numbers of lighterage vessels went to outer berth for loading cargos from mother vessels but returned without any cargo due to continuous rain and rough sea on Friday. Till writing this report, no lighterage vessel sails for outer berth for cargo loading .
