A daylong views exchange meeting on the role of mass-media in road safety organised by BRAC Advocacy for Social Change and Road Safety programme was held at local LGED auditorium here on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Narsingdi Obaidul Azam attended the meeting as chief guest with former president Narsingdi Press Club Nibaran Roy in the chair.
Suborno Daud Toha, Senior Manager, BRAC Advocacy for Social Change delivered the welcome speech. In his speech he shared the objective of road safety programme and promoting safe road code project of BRAC advocacy for social change. He added, there is no alternative to build partnership to work for road safety. We should promote the issue for the attention of policy maker, as a safe road code is a demand for road safety in Bangladesh. BRAC has been staging popular theaters at community level to aware the people on road safety.
Deputy Commissioner in his speech said for discussing on the local road safety problems and put recommendation to solve them. He requested the journalist to observe the activities of all road safety stakeholders and contribute individually to reduce the road accident.
Apurba Kumar Saha, manager technical, BRAC road safety programme presented the key note on the role of media for road safety. He highlighted that people expect the in-depth and follow up news on road accident from mass media.
