Roksana Rupsha dedicated herself to folk songs

Making dream comes true of her
maternal grandfather Zahidul Islam, popular folk singer of present generation, Roksana Rupsha has established herself as a folk singer. Rupsha has impressed the audience by virtue of her melodious voice. Her voice and rendering style impress the music-lovers. When Rupsha was only 1 year old,
she started to bring up at her maternal grandfather’s house at Fasitola of Gobindoganj upazila in Gaibandha district. Rupsha got primary lessons in music from her maternal uncle Shahin. After completing SSC and HSC in Gaibandha, the singer took admission into Music College in Dhaka in 2010. She completed three-year Bachelor of Music there. Daughter of Md Ayub Hossain and Shahera Begum, she joined as senior vocal artiste at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in 2017. She lost her father on September 18 in 2021. Then the singer has to maintain responsibilities of three sisters including her and one brother. Rupsha said that her mother does not live in Dhaka, she regularly contacts with her over mobile phone. Mother is her real friend, according to her.
Maya Baraichhe was Rupsha’s debut original song, which was released under the banner of Dhruba Music Station in 2018. K Zia composed the song, while its music video was directed by Mahin Awlad. Singer Rupsha and film actor Kayes Arju performed as models in music video of that song. After releasing her first song, Rupsha attracted the viewers’ attention. Later, in her voice, songs Bolre Pakhi, Antorete Pirit and Tui Bihone were released. Lyrics written by Jamal Hossain Rupsha’s three more songs will be released soon.
Rupsha wants to render songs before her death. She said, “I can render all types of songs. But I prefer to render folk songs. I also feel comfortable to sing these songs. Happy and sorrow can be easily express in folk songs. Respected Sabina Yasmin Madam is my favourite singer but I mostly listen songs of respected Runa Laila Madam. I cannot render Runa Madam’s songs. In fact, I don’t know cannot. Everybody prays for me as I can render songs till my death.”
Rupsha also said that she has rendered three songs composed by Sheikh Sadi Khan, Maksud Jamil Mintu and Ruptonu on Padma Bridge. July 1 is her birthday. She will perform songs on RTV’s live musical show soon.
