Robi earns 4.9pc revenue, 12pc data growth

Robi Axiata Ltd, the mobile-phone operator of the country, has posted a revenue growth of 4.9 percent during the first half of the year over the same period of last year on the back of ‘political stability’, says a press release on Friday.
It also achieved a data revenue growth of 12 percent during the period.
“Data revenue growth was propelled by continuous investment in 3.5G network expansion coupled with innovative data offerings to drive data usage,” the Communications & Media Relations wing of the company said.
It also clocked a moderate 5.6 percent year-on-year revenue growth to reach Tk 13 billion in second quarter of 2015 from Tk 12.3 billion during the same period in 2014.
During the first half of the year, Robi added another 2.1 million new subscribers to reach 27.4 million, which represents 21.6 percent mobile subscriber market share of the country, the statement said.
On investment in mobile network infrastructure, it said, “Robi continued to invest heavily to fast-track its 3.5G network expansion and to improve 2.5G customer experience both in voice and data services.
“The total CAPEX investment made since inception amounted to Tk 155.8 billion including Tk 7.1 billion CAPEX investment in second quarter of 2015.”
