A robbery took place at a dealer point of Abul Khair Tobacco Company Limited in the city. At that time, the robbers hit an employee of the company named Shah Alam with a local weapon and looted 101 cartons of goods worth around Tk 4 million by truck. The incident took place at Khwaja Traders in front of Kadamtali Postarpar Jame Mosque of Double Mooring Police Station around 4am on Thursday (May 26).
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Double Mooring Police Station Mohammad Mohsin told the media that MM Hossain Parvez, owner of Khwaja Traders, told that 10 to 12 robbers came with weapons on Thursday morning and broke the lock of the warehouse and took away the goods. . When Shah Alam came out after hearing the sound of breaking the lock of the warehouse, they hit him with a native weapon and put him down. Earlier in the night, I heard that robbers raided Abul Khair’s office.
Unable to take advantage, they raided our warehouse. 101 cartons of goods have gone from there. The price is about 40 lakh rupees. He said robberies had taken place in several warehouses including Madam Bibi and Kamal Bazar a few days ago. They came with trucks and weapons. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin told that he had received a complaint that a robbery of goods worth Tk 4 million had taken place from a godown.
A storekeeper named Shah Alam was also injured in the incident. He worked in the office.
