Armed robbers looted valuables from a house after killing a woman at Hatiab area in the city early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Anwara Begum,60, wife of Salam Bagmar and mother of Anwar Hossain, former member of Kaultia union.
Police and locals said, at about 4.00am in the morning, a gang of armed robbers, numbering 8-10, entered into the house of Anwara Begum by breaking the door. The robbers tried to take away the motor bike from the house but as Anwara Begum sought, the robbers strangle to killed her and brought the motorcycle out of the house. But as the bike was locked, robbers failed to took the bike and they set fire on it. The robbers also looted valuables from the house.
Sub Inspector Basir Uddin of Joydebpur police station said, being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for postmortem.
