Police have killed a suspected robber during an alleged shootout at Kushtia’s Daulatpur.
The deceased Selim Molla, 32, was accused in multiple cases for robbery and mugging, according to the police.
Police conducted a raid on early Friday in Shehala Adabarhia’s ‘Bot Tola’ after being tipped off about a gang of robbers plotting crimes in the area.
“The robbers opened fire when police interrupted their secret meeting,” said Kushtia Detective Branch OC Sabbirul Islam. “A gunbattle began that continued for about 30 minutes. Some fled but Selim was injured in the firing. He died at a hospital,” he told bdnews24.com.
Two firearms, two knives and some ammunition have been recovered from the spot.
