Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader said that the proposed road safety law would be placed next week in the cabinet.
He expressed the hope that the law would be passed by the Parliament within the next two months.
The minister said this at a press conference in the capital on Wednesday.
The road transport bill will also be placed in the cabinet meeting on next Monday for approval.
The draft bill will be placed in the cabinet meeting following the directives of the prime minister, he said while talking to reporters at the secretariat.
The law ministry has already completed the vetting of the road transport bill, said Rezaul Karim, Public Relations Officer of the law ministry.
The document of the proposed bill was sent to the road transport and bridges ministry on Wednesday, he said.
Obaidul Quader said, “There is logic of protest against the tragic death of two students. The Prime Minister is shocked. We are also shocked. Yet I shall tell the students, take a little patience, and give us time.
Earlier on Sunday, Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, students of the college section of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College, were killed as a ‘Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan’ bus ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road.
