Road crashes claim 4 lives in Mymensingh, Feni

At least four people killed in Mymensingh and Feni road crashes on Saturday.
In Mymensingh, two women have been killed after a lorry rammed an autorickshaw in Mymensingh’s Gafargaon Upazila.
The incident occurred in the Dhopaghat area on Gafargaon-Bhaluka regional road around 12:30 pm on Saturday, Gafargaon police chief Faruk Ahmed said.
The dead have been identified as Majeda Khatun, 55, and Bakula Begum, 45.
Majeda and Bakula were heading home from their in-laws’ on the
autorickshaw. A sand-carrying lorry hit the vehicle while the driver was dropping passengers, leaving Majeda dead on the spot, Faruk said.
Bakula and another person were injured in the incident. She died on her way to Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex.
Police recovered the bodies after being informed about the incident. They seized the vehicles but the drivers managed to flee the scene.
The police officer said efforts are underway to take legal action over the accident.
In Feni, two brothers were killed and two people injured when a private car hit a tree near BSCIC Industrial area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Feni on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Biplob, 32, an assistant teacher of Mirsarai Sasarat Government Primary School and his brother Tushar, 40, an expatriate.
They were sons of Dinesh of Sasrat Banglabazar area of Ichakhali union in Mirsarai upazila of Chattogram, reports UNB.
Police said the private car carrying the two brothers rammed a tree when its driver lost control over the steering, leaving them dead on the spot. The driver and another passenger sustained injuries.
Tushar went to Dhaka for treatment andthe accident occurred while they were returning from there.
Mohipal Highway Police inspector Zakir Hossain said that the bodies were sent to Feni General Hospital morgue.
