Part of a road connecting Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur district with Tungipara and Kotalipara of Gopalganj district became accident-prone due to less-width and risky curve.
Local people alleged that more than one-kilometer long portion of the road near Jhanjhania Bazar has not only narrow , but having a dangerous curve making vehicular movements highly risky.
The road touching Tungipara, Bashbaria, Jhanjhania, and Kotalipara became important and busy for connecting two districts and business-points.
After visiting Bashbaria and talking with local people it was found that road on west bank of Bashbaria canal went to Tungipara upazila and road on east bank runs to Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj district touching the areas under Nazirpur upazila.
Tanvir Shovan, a local businessman of the bazaar, showed that width of Bashbaria-Jhanjhania portion of the road is so narrow that pedestrians must be forced to leave the road if two rickshaw-vans come side by side.
Asaduzzaman Dulal Talukdar, local elite, told within last three years at least three people named Mannan Sheikh, Saberuddin, Asad Sheikh killed on this road by the hits of road transports.
Almost every day we have to face accidents on this busy road due to its narrowness and curves, Asaduzzaman added.
