A couple has allegedly ‘committed suicide’ taking poison in Gazipur’s Sreepur.
The incident took place at about 11:30pm on Sunday.
Deceased Md Firoz, 25, and his wife Liza Akhter, 22, was declared dead by the on-duty doctors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at about 5am on Monday. Both of them worked at a readymade garment factory.
One Rangila Akhter said she brought the couple, who were in conscious state, to the emergncy department of the hospital at night from their house at Jahid Colony under Sreepur upazila. Liza, hailed from Nilphamari, left the job last month. The reason behind their suicide could not be known, Rangila Akhter added.
The bodies were kept at the DMCH morgue for investigation, said the hospital police outpost in-charge Md Bachchu Miah.
