RMG sector to continue its growth: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Wednesday said the development of the country’s ready-made garments (RMG) sector will not be hindered since the government is sincerely working to continue its pace.
“Despite different negative campaigns against Bangladesh in the international market, the country’s RMG sector is moving forward by continuing its growth,” he said while addressing the inaugural session of the ’13th Dhaka International Yarn and Fabric Show’ at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICC,B) in the capital, a handout said.
CEMS Global and CCPIT TEX jointly organised the exhibition. At the function, Amu also inaugurated two expositions – ‘Second Dhaka International Denim Show’ and ’30th Dycam Bangladesh Expo 2018′.
The Industries Minister said the government has already taken steps to ensure safe working environment for workers in the RMG sector.
“The government has also enacted the Labour Law-2013 (Amendment) and formulated guidelines for national health and safety at workplace,” he said.
Charge d’ Affaires of Chinese Embassy in Dhaka Chen Wei, Senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) M Faruque Hasan and First Vice-President of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) Mansur Ahmed, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Around 350 business entities from 21 countries are participating in the four-day exposition.
The exhibitions will remain open for all from 10.30 am to 7.30 pm every day.
