RMG exports up by 22.72pc to non-traditional mkts

Apparel exports to the non-traditional markets have increased to $545.32 million with 22.72 per cent year-on-year growth.
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) published the country-wise detailed exports for the first month of the new fiscal year 2022-23.
According to the EPB statistics, the apparel exports to the US, the largest export destination for Bangladesh in July increased by 14.38 per cent to $685.77 million from $599.53 million in July of fiscal year 2021-22.
During the mentioned period, apparel export to the EU market grew by 13.36 per cent to $1.65 billion from $1.46 billion in the same period of last fiscal year.
RMG export to Germany, the second largest export destination for Bangladesh, reached $517million with 2.21 per cent year-on-year growth.
The apparel export to the major countries such as Spain, France, Netherland, Italy and Poland grew by 30.27 per cent, 13.88 per cent, 27.98 per cent, 4.14 per cent and 2.92 per cent respectively.
During July, FY 2023, export to UK and Canada reached $366.42 Million and $ 112.30 million, with 32.31 per cent and 7.33 per cent growth respectively.
At the same time, exports to the non-traditional markets reached $ 545.32 million with 22.72 per cent year-on-year growth.
Among the major non-traditional markets, export to Japan, India, Australia, and South Korea increased by 4.26 per cent, 71.74 per cent, 18.53 per cent and 22.27 per cent respectively.
