Staff Reporter :Seven people, including a policeman, were injured as two factions of the BNP’s Lalbag Thana unit clashed at the party’s central office at Nayapaltan in the city on Monday. According to the eyewitnesses, the clash took place between the supporters of the detained BNP Organising Secretary Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu and former commissioner and convener of Lalbag Thana unit of the party Meer Ashraf Ali Azam at noon. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Three people were arrested from the spot. Injured persons were sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). Several hundred leaders and workers of the Lalbag Thana unit came to Nayapaltan to join the workers’ meeting of the unit at Bhashani Auditorium. Before the meeting , supporters of the two groups locked into brawling that ensued clash. The supporters of the two groups also vandalized chairs during the clash.
