SSC results: Review applications cross all records

The number of applications requesting the Education Boards to review the Secondary School Certificate and its equivalent examinations’ results has crossed all the records.
A total of 2,53,045 students out of 14,31,722, who passed the SSC and its equivalent examinations 2017, have applied for review.
The students and their guardians are hopeful about getting more marks in the subjects they applied for.
Fatima Nasrin, a guardian, said, her daughter got Grade Point Average (GPA)-5 at every subject except Mathematics.
“My daughter obtained 78 in Mathematics. I am sure that she will get 80 after review of the answer sheet,” the guardian said.
An applicant who passed SSC from Motijheel Ideal School and College wishing anonymity told The New Nation that she became astonished after seeing the result sheet.
 “It is unbelievable that I got 79 in English. I believe that I will get GPA-5 in English if the Board rechecks my answer sheet properly,” she said. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka received the highest number of 55,330 applications. It was 43,580 last year.
As many as 30,240 students applied for review of their answer sheets in Comilla Education Board, 21,939 in Chittagong Education Board, 10,068 in Sylhet Education Board, 19,960 in Jessore Education Board, 17,714 in Rajshahi Education Board, 20,229 in Barisal Education Board, 37,397 in Dinajpur Board, 16,661 in Technical Education Board and 23,507 in Madrasa Education Board.
President of Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee Professor Mahbubur Rahman said the students got a chance to see their result sheets last year. In the meantime the court has ordered the Board to inform the students their result sheets. This is the prime cause behind the increase of review applications, he said.
 “Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee decided not to provide the result sheets. But I have made it known to the students to make them clear how many marks they deserve actually,” Professor Mahbub said.
Controller of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka Tapan Kumar Sarker said, the board is sincere about the rights of the students. That is why it gives access to know the students’ results. The applications for review the result have already crossed all the previous records.
 “Most of the students got 78 or 79 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. They are confident of improvement through review of their result sheets and that is why they applied, said the Controller.
The results of the review applications will be published on May 30, he added.
