Terming the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2015-16 a huge deficit plan, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begum Rowshan Ershed today said it will be impossible to achieve the revenue earnings target in the budget.
The opposition leader said despite being a gigantic budget lesser allocations have been made for the important sectors like health, education, ICT and others.
Rowshan Earshad made the assertions while taking part in the general discussion on the proposed budget in the Jatiya Sangsad on Monday.
She demanded higher and adequate allocations for the vital sectors of agriculture, health, education and human resource development for the interest of people and overall welfare of the country.
Rowshan requested the finance minister to make highest allocation in the education sector for transforming the country into a “Digital Bangladesh.”
She proposed allocating Taka 25 thousand crore in the health sector and taking necessary measures to ensure healthcare service for all citizens of the country.
The leader of the opposition also asked the government for taking more effective measures to develop the country’s infrastructure sector, which is crucial for increasing local and foreign investment in the country and generating employment.
Rowshan called upon the concerned authorities to think afresh about the launching of Rampal and Moheshkhali power plants from environment point of view.
The opposition leader also called for exercising more caution in the construction of Ruppur nuclear power plant in Pabna.
She recommended a set of initiatives to increase investment in the country and lamented for having no appropriate directives in the proposed national budget to this effect.
