Revenue target challenge: FBCCI

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) President Md Jashim Uddin on Thursday the size of the proposed budget for Tk 6,03,681 crore as unrealistic with national growth target at 7.2 per cent and inflation at 5.3 per cent.
He made the remarks in an instant reaction to the proposed budget, placed by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal before the parliament on Thursday.
Jashim Uddin said, “The size of the budget is increasing every year along with the growth of the country’s economic, but the challenge of implementing the budget can be achieved through good governance, proper monitoring, investment and increase in production.”
“As a result, it is important to ensure clear direction and planning to continuously improve the quality of efficiency, transparency, accountability and oversight in budget implementation,” the FBCCI president said.
“The coverage of social security has increased due to unemployment and loss of income due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the enhancement of the allowances for aged-people, disability, widow and husband tortured women will play a positive role,” he said.
He said, the targets been set in the budget for the development of power and energy, communication and other infrastructure, and will accelerate the process of investment, industrialisation and employment.
The Public Private Partnership (PPP) will play a greater role in the development of all these infrastructures, the FBCCI president added.
