Reunion of heroic freedom fighters held in Manikganj

A reunion was held in Manikganj with about three thousand heroic freedom fighters and their family members from 21 upazilas in the western part of Dhaka. The reunion was held at the Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium on Saturday.
2,500 heroic freedom fighters from 21 upazilas of Dhaka West (Dhaka District, Dhaka Metropolitan, Munshiganj, Manikganj) gathered there.
According to the organizing committee, the fair has been organized on the occasion of 50 years of independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu.
 The number of freedom fighters of the upazila is decreasing day by day. This event is organized to inspire the young generation in the spirit of liberation war.
Eighty-year-old freedom fighter Golap Mia said, “It is a great achievement for us in the golden jubilee of independence. I have met many well-known comrades here. Many have various memories during the liberation war. I never thought I would be able to get everyone together.”
Recalling the time of the liberation war, freedom fighter Akbar Ali said, “I left my house during the war and went to call Bangabandhu.” I lost my mother, father, brother and sister in the war. I have suffered a lot in the post-war period. We, the freedom fighters, are grateful for the respect that Bangabandhu Kanya has given us. Today’s event has boosted our morale.
The young generation has to develop with the spirit of liberation war. ‘
Lalbagh Police Station Commander Syed Amel said, “I came to the reunion with my grandchildren in the morning. It feels good to give such respect to the heroic freedom fighters. If we are honored, the next generation will know about the liberation war. ‘
Convener of the organizing committee of Dhaka West Freedom Fighters’ Meeting is chaired by Bir Muktijoddha MP Benazir Ahmed, presided over by Freedom Fighters Minister Akhm Mozammel Haque, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Health Minister Zahid Malek Swapan, Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, Duryog. Md. Enamul Rahman, Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nesa Indira, State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid, Former Food Minister Kamrul Islam, Advisor to PM on Private Industries and Investment Salman Fazlur Rahman, Chairman Parliamentary Standing Committee on Liberation War Affairs Shahjahan Khan, Manikganj-1 constituency. Member of Parliament AM Naimur Rahman Durjoy, MP of Manikganj-2 constituency Mamtaz Begum, DIG of Dhaka Range Habibur Rahman, President of Manikganj District Awami League Advocate Golam Mohiuddin, General Secretary Abdus Salam, leaders of district Awami League and allied organizations including Dhaka West were present. Peace of soul of the martyred heroes of the liberation war was wished at the gathering.
