Responsible tourism need to be prompted: Minister

Tourism insiders need to prompt responsible tourism besides expansion and development of tourism sector in Bangladesh, said Civil Aviation and Tourism minister on Tuesday.
The minister added that tourism developers have to take responsibility of prompting responsible tourism otherwise the expanding industry of the country may dissolve in the long run.
The suggestions came from a view exchange meeting titled ‘Development of Tourism Industry and Responsible Tourism’ held at Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) head office in the city.
Due to burden of tourists the nature, environment and surroundings of Saint Martin, Ratargul, Jaflong, Bichanakandi are experiencing destruction threat which are the main attraction of the sectror. For preserving the natural attractions of the country both public, private sector have to contribute and take initiatives.  
“Government has created a smooth run way for tourism with cooperation and endless efforts of the private initiatives in tourism sector in past few years. The tourism sector is forwarding fast on the run way and we need to work to make it sustainable,” said Rashed Khan Menon.
BTB CEO Dr Mohammad Nasir Uddin presided the program while Civil Aviation and Tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon was the chief guest in the program. Secretary of Civil Aviation and Tourism ministry SM Golam Farouque, Hill Managing Director KM Abdus Salam, Director of BTB Nikhil Chandra Roy, President of PATA Bangladesh Chapter Shahid Hamid, CCO Rigent Air Hanif Jakaria, Managing Director of Hanif Paribahan Ramesh Chadra Ghosh, Chairman of Green Line Paribahan Haji Alauddin and Khabir Uddin of Resort Association, among others, were present in the program.
