May Day observed: Renewed pledge to build exploitation-free society by establishing rights of working class

The historic May Day was observed on Tuesday in Chattogram in a befitting manner with a renewed pledge to build an exploitation-free society by establishing the rights of working class people.
The day observed across the globe since 1886 commemorating the supreme sacrifices of the workers at Hay Market, Chicago, in the USA for eight-hour working day and upholding the rights of the working class.
Several trade unions, professional bodies, worker groups, political parties, socio-cultural organizations, different government and non-government organizations observed the day through various programmes.
The programmes included processions, rallies, discussions and cultural functions. Chattogram Union of Journalist formed a human chain in front of Chattogram press Club . Besides, City and regional Sramik Legue arrage a gathering at laldighi Maidan . City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin was present as chief guest .
Abdus Salam, Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority attended as Chief Guest at a gathering of Divisional Constriction Sromik Union at Baddarhat on the occasion of May Day on Tuesday.
President of chairman gata Sromik Union Ali Akber Presided the gathering.
The May Day is also known as International Labour Day and the International Worker’s Day which is celebrated at international level to promote and encourage the international labour associations.
