NIST aid for BSTI development

National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a Washington-based institute, will provide assistance for increasing the capacity of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) and improving the efficiency of its officials.
The high officials of the institute agreed to provide the training during a meeting with a Bangladesh delegation led by Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu held at the United States of America (USA), said a PID handout.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is a measurement standards laboratory which is a non-regulatory agency of the US Department of Commerce.
NIST will help upgrading the quality system and calibration laboratory of BSTI, said the handout.
NIST international programme manager Magdalena Navarro, standards manager Sally Bruce, National Volunteer Laboratory Accreditation programme affairs director Warren Merkel, Bangladesh Ambassador to the US Mohammad Ziauddin, among others, were present at the meeting.
