Former Palli Daridra Bimochon Foundation (PDBF) Managing Director (MD) Mahubur Rahman alias Kalam, who was appointed on contractual job and removed due to faulty recruitment system and huge corruption, is trying to get back his position in the government sponsored body working to eliminate poverty through micro-credit, savings and capacity building of its members.
To return in his position again, Mahbub is now trying to manage the high officials of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division under the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry. At the same time, he is also trying get a legal support by giving the court wrong information about his appointment and removal from the job, according to PDBF officials.
The officials and employees claimed that the former MD is threatening PDBF officials concerned as they don’t move in the court sincerely, so that he can win the legal fight against the government. He is also trying to spread baseless scandals against the officials who were engaged in removing Mahbub.
When try to contract with Mahubur Rahman alias Kalam his mobile phone was found switched off.
The PDBF governing board, led by Rural Development and Co-operatives Secretary Dr. Proshanto Kumar Roy, dismissed PDBF MD Mahbub from his office on December 28 last year due to his faulty appointment and widespread allegations of his corruption and misconduct.
The decision was taken according to a probe body report, which was prepared and submitted by its chief and RDCD Additional Secretary Ananda Kumar Bishwas. The report was submitted in the meeting held on December 28 last year. The PDBF governing board formed the probe body on August 29 that year.
According to the probe report, Mahbub was appointed as its MD on May 13, 2013 for life long period. But, there is no option of appointing one in a government office for life long. A person can be appointed for highest three years tenure or mentioned period on a contractual job.
The probe report said that though the appointment procedure was faulty, the PDBF board approved his service in its meeting held on the same day, May 5, 2013.
PDBF’s acting Managing Director Madan Mohan Saha said that Mahbub is threatening the PDBF official looking after the cases in different courts not to work sincerely as he can win the case by giving wrong information to the court.
