The Election Commission (EC) has directed Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) to initiate steps to remove posters, banners, effigies and other visible means of campaign matters by the extended date of Sunday.
“Take steps to remove election campaign materials within the deadline set by the commission (EC),” EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmad told the Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) at a briefing session on Friday.
“You will be held responsible if those are not removed within the deadline,” he warned.
Helaluddin said that banners, posters and effigies
were seen in many places despite the commission’s directive on their removal by November 14.
“You must ensure removal of election campaign materials by November 18 so that legislative aspirant gets time to act on removal,” he said.
According to amended schedule, the date of election is December 30. The deadline of filing nomination papers is November 28. The date of scrutiny is December 2 and last date of withdrawal of nominations is December 9.
