Remittance inflow in Aug $1.73bn

The remittance inflow in the country has witnessed $1.73 billion in the first 25 days of August for remitting the money through legal channels.
Bangladesh Bank is expecting around $2.14 billion dollars in the whole month of August if this trend continues.
The state-run banks have received Tk 31.50 crore of the total Tk172.93 crore in the first 25 days. The specialised Bangladesh Krishi Bank has received Tk2.10 crore and the private banks received Tk138.69 crore.
The Islami Bank has received the highest remittance in those days and it received Tk35.62 crore followed by state-owned bank Agrani Bank which gets Tk11 crore. The Citi Bank has received Tk11 crore, Dutch-Bangla Bank Tk9.54 crore and Rupali Bank Tk9.35 crore. However, BDBL, Rajshahi Agriculture Development Bank, Al-Falah, Habib Bank, National Bank of Pakistan and State Bank of India did not receive any remittance, the BB sources said.
In July, expatriates sent inward remittances worth $2.09 billion while in June the remittance flow was $1.83 billion through the banking channel and it was about $1.94 billion in May.
