Relief goods distributed among flood victims

BSS, Gaibandha :
A total of 410 flood affected people of Kapasia and Belka unions of Sundarganj upazila in the district got relief materials from Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), district unit, yesterday.
On the occasion, a simple function was held on the premises of Belka MC High School on Saturday afternoon. Grameen Phone, a private mobile company, and BDRCS, district unit jointly organised the function that was presided over by Ataur Rahman Sarker Ata, chairman of Zila Parishad and also chairman of BDRCS, district unit. Superintendent of Gaibandha police (SP) M. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
The function was also addressed, among others, by Grameen Phone territory manager M. Ashiqur Rahman, officer in charge of Sundarganj Police Station Atiar Rahman, DRM project manager Golam Mostafa, and journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman.
Each of the beneficiaries received 15-kgs of rice, 2-kgs of lentil and oil, salt, sugar, and suzi.
BSS from Panchagarh adds: A total of Taka 17,65,000, 572 tonnes of rice, 500 Sari , 500 Lungi , 2000 packets of dry food and 82 bundles of corrugated iron sheets were distributed among 20,250 flood affected peoples in five upazilas of the district.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Animesh Biswas told BSS, of them Taka 5 lakh and the Sari and Lungi were distributed from the Prime Minister fund and rest of the allocation has come from the disaster ministry.
