Leaders of Nagorik Jubo Oikya on Tuesday demanded immediate and unconditional release of Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna.
The demand came from a human-chain programme held in front of the Jatiya Press Club. Jubo Oikya central committee member Shahinul Alam presided over the post-human chain rally.
Demanding Manna’s immediate release, the speakers said Manna has always been a fighter for democracy and he has no stance beyond democracy, said a press release.
They alleged that Manna was arrested as part of government’s conspiracy as he was vocal and critical against government activities.
They also demanded proper treatment of Manna. Earlier in February, RAB held Manna and he was shown arrested in a case filed by SI Sohel Rana of Gulshan police on charge of instigating the armed forces.
