BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday accused the jail authority of preventing the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s relatives from visiting her in jail for three weeks.
“According to the jail code, relatives can visit their imprisoned relatives once in a week.
But the jail authority is giving Khaleda Zia’s relatives permission to meet her after every 15 days. But the jail authority did permit Khaleda Zia’s relatives to visit her in last 20 to 21 days, which is painful,” Rizvi said it in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office.
He added that the senior leaders and personal physicians also could not visit Khaleda Zia in last 4 months.
The BNP leader said, Khaleda Zia completed her 36 years in politics on January 3. She joined the BNP on January 3 in 1982.
“We congratulated on her completing 37 years in politics,” Rizvi said.
He said, “The government oppresses her by imprisoning in fabricated cases. The nation mourns it and wants her release as quick as possible. This anger will be a tornado and will hit the misrule any time.”
