Chattogram Bureau :
Journalist leaders at a protest rally on sunday demanded reinstatement of two journalists of Daily Azadi. They said they would hold protest rallies on Chittagong Press Club (CPC) and Daily Azadi premises on October 8 and 9 respectively to press home their demands. They made the declaration in a meeting of Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) held on the premises of Daily Azadi.
Strongly condemning the termination of senior reporters Sabur Shuvo and Hritick Nayan of Daily Azadi, they said the authorities of the Daily Azadi took the vindictive steps against the journalists as government issued circular for the dearness allowance and implementation of the ninth wage board award for journalists. The journalist leaders also vowed to continue their movement for their reinstatement.
Presided over by CUJ president Nazim Uddin Shyamol, the protest rally was addressed, among others, by Vice-president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Reaz Haider Chowdhury, former BFUJ Vice President Shahidul Alam, former presidents of CUJ Mostaque Ahmed, Ezaz Yousufi and Chattogram Press Club Joint Secretary Chowdhury Farid.
CUJ General Secretary Hasan Ferdous conducted meeting.
