6 Sundari wood laden nasimans seized in Mongla

Some 6 Nsimans (three wheeled mechanized vehicles) laden with cut band Sundari wood of Sundarban forest were seized by the police from Kumarkhali area in Mongla port town in the district on Monday. It is learnt from SI Ibarat Hossain of Mongla PS that defying the Govt. order a number of wood smugglers cut Sundaari wood from the forest on Monday and at noon while they were taking those to Mithakhali under Mongla Upazila by 6 Nasimans police seized the Nasimans laden with Sundari wood at Kumarkhali in Mongla port town. But the smugglers managed to escape. Then police recovered the wood and handed over the same to the forest department. The market price of the recovered Sundari wood could not be ascertained.

Road mishap kills schoolchild in Jessore

A child was killed in a road mishap at Shyamlagachhi on Jessore- Benapole Road under Sharsha upazila on Monday night. The dead is identified as Sumaiya Islam, 8, student of class three at a local primary school and also daughter of Abdul Momin of Rajnagar village under Sharsha police station. Ahmed Kabir, officer in-charge, Sharsha police station told that the minor child died on the spot as a goods laden truck knocked her down under the wheels. The police seized the truck although the driver and the helper fled soon after the incident.

Body of college girl recovered from garden in Wajirpur

Hanging dead body of a college girl was recovered from the tree in the garden at Guthia area under Wajirpur upazila of Barisal on Tuesday morning. The victim was identified as Sonia Aktar, 20, degree second year student of Guthia College and daughter of Abdul Khalek Shikdar of the area. Anwar Hossain, Wajirpur police station officer in charge, said local people seeing the body hanging from tree at the garden behind the home of the girl informed family members at about 10:00 AM. Police recovering the dead body sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy after lodging a case of unnatural death on Tuesday noon. Parents of the victim claimed there was no family dispute and no altercation for committing suicide, Police sources said police primarily assuming the incident as a matter of suicide, but will investigate cause for that.

Monirampur Poura street light system inaugurated

Monirampur Poura Shava street light system was inaugurated recently. Pourashava Mayor and General Manager Jessore Polli Biddhut Samity-2 jointly inaugurated it to press switch at Pourashava switch board. Pourashava will operate the light and met-up the bill from Poura fund. On the occasion presided over by Poura Mayor Alhaj Shahid Md. Iqbal Hosen, it was addressed by Chief Guest GM Md. Salauddin Al Bithar, Panel Mayor Md. Mofijur Rahman, Journalist Prof. Abdul Alim, Shazidur Rahaman Litu.

8 fined for stealing electricity in Gazipur

Eight persons were fined Tk 15 lakh for stealing electricity in Gazipur. A mobile court for Polly Bidhuyut Samity (PBS) fined this amount on Monday. Directed the mobile court led by Executive Magistrate in Gazipur, Afroza Akter Riba, DGM of PBS Gazipur, Md. Khaledul Islam and others related persons were present with mobile court. DGM of PBS Gazipur, Md. Khaledul Islam said, by passing metre on charge for stealing electricity eight persons were fined for this crime. They are identified as Nazrul Islam of Kalameshor in Gazipur city corporation was fined taka one lakh 64 thousand 340, Mosharraf Hossain was fined 2 lakh 34 thousand 558 and Fazar Ali of the same area was fined 1 lac 40 thousand 935 taka, Reaz uddin of Khailkor was fined taka 1 lakh 76 thousand 44, Moslem uddin of Chandara area one lakh 76 thousand 44, Mohasin Molla of same area was fined 23 thousand 906, Abul Hashem of Kamarjuri was fined 1 lakh 45 thousand 935 and Nor Zahan Begam of Kunia was fined 4 lakh 64 thousand 395 taka.
