A 5-day ‘REHAB Fair 2014’ will begin at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital on Thursday (Mar 20), aiming to promote the country’s real estate sector.
The announcement came from a press conference organised by the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) at the Jatiya Press Club on Monday.
State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid will inaugurate the fair.
REHAB general secretary M Wahiduzzaman in his written statement said the duration of the fair will be for five days from 20-24 March and it will remain open to visitors from 2 pm to 9 pm on the opening day while 11 am to 9 pm on the remaining days.
Wahiduzzaman said REHAB could not arrange the fair on the stipulated date due to political instability.
About its objectives, he said they want to bolster ties between buyers and sellers.
Replying to a query, REHAB acting president and chairman of Fair Standing Committee Maj Gen (retd) M Abdur Rashid the country’s housing sector has been passing through a bad time since 2012 and the country’s political turmoil seriously affected the sector.
He said there are over unsold 22,500 flats of REHAB, which are worth more than Tk 21,000 crore.
REHAB organising secretary Saidul Islam Badal, joint treasurer Engr Ansar Ali, cochairman of fair standing committee Engr Suhrawardi, fair convener Asadur Rahman Juardar and co-convener Engr M Kamruzzaman were, among others, present at the press conference.
