Staff Reporter :
Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday claimed that it was cheated by Regent Hospital and JKG Group.
Both the entities had been involved in gross irregularities including COVID-19 test report forgery and later had been busted by the Rapid Action Battalion.
Earlier the RAB sealed off the Mirpur and Uttara branches of Regent Hospital after it had unearthed that the hospital had no licence, was involved in COVID-19 certificate forgery and taking huge amount of money from COVID-19 patients. The hospital had an agreement with the government to provide free treatment to the patients.
JKG Group, another institution involved in forging COVID-19 test reports, was also busted by the RAB last month.
DGHS assistant director for coordination Jahangir Kabir in a press release in the evening said that both Regent Hospital and JKG Group cheated DGHS.
‘DGHS has been cheated by Regent Hospital by allowing it to provide treatment to the COVID-19 patients,’ the release said.
DGHS said their agreement with Regent Hospital was signed as per the direction from the ministry while JKG Group coordinator Ariful Chowdhruy had been known to the government department since 2018 as his event management firm Oval Group had organised the Health Services Week 2018.
DGHS said that a vested quarter was trying to defame the DGHS and trying to demoralise its officials.
‘Everyone expects that the offenders get punished,’ the release said.
