Refusal of ransom Trader chopped in Jhenidah

Miscreants chopped a trader when he had refused to pay Tk two lakh as ransom. The incident took place at Kumrabaria village under Jhenidah sadar upazila on Monday evening.
The injured is identified as Jahangir Hossain, 30, son of Serajul Islam of the village.
Jahangir Hossain said, he was marching towards Nagarbathan Bazar under the same upazila in the evening at around 07:20 pm. Some Jahangir Hossain, son of Ruhul Amin of the same village had chopped him severely. The locals rushed him to Jhenidah sadar hospital.
Serajul Islam, the father of injured Jahangir said, the attacker Jahangir was claiming himself as an activist of the out fit Janajuddha (ML). He was demanding a sum of Taka two lakh as ransom for last couple of months to his son Jahangir.
As Jahangir had refused to pay the amount, the miscreants have chopped Jahangir. He alleged, some miscreants like Jahangir were involved in throwing crackers in the houses of some local people when the house owners had refused paying ransom. In last week the miscreants have thrown hand bombs on the house of Akter Hossain of the village as the house owners refused to pay the ransom.
Ruling party leader and ex union Parishad Chairman Shamsul Haque of Kumrobaria union under the upazila when contacted, said, an anti ransom committee was formed to prevent the miscreants.
Jhenidah police officer in charge Shahabuddin Azad when contacted, said, he was informed about the attack on trader. No case was filed till as of writing the report.
