Reducing gender based violence underscored

A daylong workshop on “Boys and Men Engagement to Reducing Gender Based Violence” was held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university on Thursday. Department of Women and Gender Studies of DU in association with Plan International Bangladesh organised the workshop.
Secretary of the Ministry of Children and Women Affairs Tariqul Islam formally inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest while DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Shahid Akhter Hossain
attented the programme as the guest of honour and Samira Al-Zwaini of Plan International as special guest.Chairperson of the Department of Women and Gender Studies Tania Haque extended vote of thanks while Country Director of Plan International Bangladesh Senait Gebregziabher delivered the welcome speech on the occasion.
Addressing the workshop DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Shahid Akhter Hossain said boys and men should change their behaviour towards girls and women and care women as their near and dear ones as well as an important member of the family and society. The Pro VC said equal rights and equity for men and women should be ensured in the society.
