50 yrs in profession: Reception to 18 lawyers

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Sunday accorded reception to 18 lawyers of the bar who have reached the impressive milestone of practicing law for 50 years.
Those who were honoured they are Justice Syed Amirul Islam, Barrister Mainul Hosein, Barrister Md Abdus Samad, Advocate Gias Uddin Ahmed, Advocate A K M Lutfar Rahman, Advocate Manzur-ur Rahim, Senior Advocate M A Wadud Bhuiyan, Barrister Abdul Hasib, Senior Advocate Abdul Baset Majumder, Senior Advocate M Hafiz Ullah, Advocate Syed Abul Mokarram, Advocate Moloy Bhuson Roy, Justice Khademul Islam Chowdhury, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Advocate Afsar Uddin Khan, Advocate Syed Ahmed, Senior Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain and Advocate Md Khairul Islam.
SCBA President Advocate Yousuf Hossain Humayun presided over the programme arranged in the Shahid Shafiur Rahman auditorium of the bar. SCBA Secretary Barristert A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan conducted the programme.
Supreme Court Bar leaders and hundreds of members of the Bar were present on the occasion. The programme concluded with a gorgeous cultural session.
Brrister Mainul Hosein and Senior Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain and some other personalities did not attend the programme due to their personal occupation and physical sickness.
While talking at the function, Justice Syed Amirul Islam said, our Judiciary is now in front of various questions for various reasons. We have to get rid of this situation at any cost.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed said that they should maintain the independence of Judiciary at any cost. That is why they should encourage and support the judges. He praised the present Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha for his steps to consolidate the Judiciary.
