S A Shofiee, Sylhet :
Though two big parties – Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have nominated their candidates in 8 unions under Sadar upazila here, rebel candidates are rampant in both the parties. Now, the candidates as well as the voters are expecting a hard contest in the election.
Counter rallies and untoward incidents in the upazila have become a regular phenomenon. The candidates who failed to win party nominations are apparently becoming hostile despite warning of stern actions by the party high command. From No. Tulatikor union Md. Abdul Mossobbir is the AL nominee while he may face hard contest with rebel candidate Md. Ali Hossain.
