Business Desk :
State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed has instructed realtors to follow building code properly while constructing establishments across the country.
The instruction was given at an Iftar and Doa Mahfil organized by the Real Estate & Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) at Sena Malancha Convention Hall in the capital on Tuesday.
“Our government is working relentlessly to ensure safe housing for all walks of life. Currently, there are various problems in the real estate sector. The problems will be resolved through a fruitful discussion soon,” the state minister added.
He also said the government will work actively in real estate and all linkage sectors of the country.
REHAB President Alamgir Shamsul Alamin (Kajal) said the recent price hike of construction materials has once again cast a shadow over the housing industry.
“We fear that the price of flats would soon go out of purchasing capacity of the country’s middle income people. So, we request the government to permit undisclosed money to be invested in the real estate sector in the upcoming national budget for 2022-23,” Shamsul added.
REHAB president also urged the government to form a special fund for them and run secondary market management in the sector.
REHAB Senior Vice President Enthekhabul Hamid, Vice Presidents Kamal Mahmud, Nazrul Islam Dulal, Lion Sharif Ali Khan, Engineer Mohd Shohel Rana, among others were present at the event.
