Keep the campus safe for students

The university halls are now torture centre. Though, campus is the favorite place for students, students are being tortured there most often. Recently, such incidents occurred in Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Barisal University and Eden Government Women’s College. Students are often beaten, threatened, snatched valuables. A few days ago, the CCTV footage of brutal beating in a hall of Barisal University was released. The parents are worried. Moreover, victimized students are not willing to complain to the authority out of fear. Therefore, the university administration very often is not well-concerned regarding the matter.
Every citizen has the right to security. Students must not suffer from lack of security in their campus. If the torture of students in public universities is not stopped, reputation of our education will go down. Foreign students will be reluctant to come here to study.
We urge to the university authorities to keep students safe in the halls. Keep them mentally healthy and your reputation intact.

Poor disaster risk management

block

Bangladesh stands fifth among the top disaster risk countries in the world. When our neighboring countries take various initiatives to make their people more aware to protect the natural environment, to ensure a suitable living environment for themselves and their future generations, we cannot make our position strong due to lack of apathy and ability of the authorities. It is a serious threat for us as well as for the future generations. Lack of modern tools needed to prevent the disaster, lack of experienced and skilled manpower, absence of environmental protection, mismanagement and failure of the concerned people, proper environmental knowledge, lack of training and programs and environmental research make the situation more worsening.
