Cycling Needs Separate Lanes In Cities

Cycling has been a getting popular as a means of commuting, exercise and recreation for some time now. However, our capital wasn’t cyclist-friendly until recently, when the city corporations started making separate lanes for the safety of cyclists on our roads.
DNCC recently conducted a drive against illegal food stands, installations and parking on Manik Mia Avenue to make space for a bicycle lane. It is indeed laudable what the city corporations are doing in this case. Not only is cycling considered as good physical exercise; it is also a green vehicle, meaning it doesn’t generate any harmful emissions that pollute the environment.
I urge the authorities concerned to arrange more such separate bicycle lanes to promote cycling which will surely help in sustaining a greener environment with healthy citizens.

Crimes Unabated

We are frightened by the unabated crimes committed by the miscreants. What are the reasons of their desperateness? May be that they are not afraid of the punishment of Allah, as the so-called religious scholars often say, “If you do wrongs, instantly pray to Allah, He will forgive you.”
Such lecture is wrong. Allah will not forgive him who harms other man. The Prophet Muhammad (Sm) said, a murderer will never be forgiven. Punishment is inevitable. Sura Nisa, V- 86 says that Allah will take account of all works.
Who so commits rape and sodomy, the unjust tax collector, torturer, parents’ disobedient children, slanderer, fraud in giving wage, and trouble maker have no escape from punishment.
All these must be spoken more in the mosques and waz mahfil. If it is done, crime will surely come down
