Congratulations to U-19 WC Champion

We congratulate West Indies for winning the 11th edition of the U-19 World Cup Cricket concluded in Dhaka on Sunday. The eventual champions again played like a professional side and were never in a hurry to reach a small target of 146 set by the pre-tournaments favourites and three times champions India. There are lessons for other teams in the final match of the championship.
Today we remember Frank Worrel, whom the world of cricket has recognised as ideal Test captain. He never played one-day international, but brought life and civility to cricket. We also remember Alexander, Gary Sobers, the world’s ever greatest all-rounder, Rohan Kanhai, Wesley Hall, Griffith, Malcom Marshall, Clive Loyd and many others, whose names the present generation do not know.
West Indies were once breeding centre of cricketers. But nowadays, most of the talents switch over to basketball, or athletics or soccer. Still those who remain have contributed to keep cricket alive. They are still formidable and may be that they will annex the coming T-20 World Cricket Championship.
We congratulate India also.
