Too many inter sections on Mirpur Road

It is an endless pain on daily basis for the commuters using Mirpur Road for the up-down travel irrespective of mode of transports – be that a luxurious private air-conditioned car/jeep or a man-driven 3 wheeler riskshaw – that they experience as victims of dead jam, mostly starting from Asad Gate and ending at Science Lab Crossing. On an average, it takes a minimum, if one is very lucky on a given day, one hour (plus-minus 15 minutes) to make this near 3 plus Kilomiles journey. It is the responsibility of the economists to work out the calculation of economic loss due to such loss of work-hours on wheel but as an ordinary citizen, we presume it is enormous in terms of health and social costs.
But, the moot question is – what causes the greed-lock. The answer is very simple. Even an ordinary sensing makes it clear that this route has too many — a half a dozen to the minimum — intersections which virtually act as the link between the South-Western to the South-Eastern part of the city and as usual slow moving rickshaws (even pull-carts) crowded the road during pick hours of the day.
And at the top of all, the Traffic management system is, perhaps, the poorest in this area of the city. The policemen placed there for doing the job, I’m sure, are most inefficient by any standard, if there be any, for the city traffic.
