Saudi led alliance :
Saudi Arabia announced formation of a military alliance on Tuesday with 34 Muslim countries, including Bangladesh. But, a day after, Pakistan said that she was never consulted about the alliance. Observers say that Pakistan does not want to earn displeasure of Iran, the bordering neighbour.
However, we do not know yet the ultimate objectives and jurisdiction of the alliance although the Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince said that the alliance would fight terrorism in any part of the world. Such warning we used to hear in the sixties and seventies from the former Soviet Union and the USA.
The two super powers formed several military pacts like NATO, SEATO, CENTO and Warsaw. The last three had been dissolved, but the NATO has been more active to fight whom the Western nations consider their enemies.
However, we shall welcome the alliance if it fights against the ISIL, Al Qaeda, the Talibans, the Boko Haraam, Al Shabab, the Sipahi Sahaba, the Laskar-e-Taiyyaba. We will be happy if the Saudi led alliance takes care of those who engineers hate-campaign against Islam.
For that the alliance must be friendly to other Muslim countries, including Iran, who are still outside.
