Growing sense of insecurity :
Weeks ago information minister said, “now no one, even a minister, is secured in Bangladesh.” I strongly agree with him. The situation is getting bad to worse.
Not very long ago, a girl, a government employee, who lived in Motijheel colony, was killed for nothing by a motorcyclist along with friends. The girl was the only earning member to run her family as her father retired from government job. A case was filed against the offenders but they threatened the victim’s family to withdraw the case. Victim’s younger sister, a school going one, now is in great fear and she cannot go to school due to threat from the murderer’s family, particularly the boy himself. Publisher Dipan’s father said, he feels Unsecured like 1971.
All the people excluding the members of the ruling party of Bangladesh have the same feelings. Of course, there are a few exceptions also like VC and Pro-VC of Rajshahi University who have been threatened of severe consequences as they did not provide jobs to the members of Awami League according to the demand of Mr. Khairuzzaman Liton. Interestingly, the VC and Pro-VC are known for their pro-AL political lines. It is now an open secret that all the jobs in all sectors are to be reserved for the members of ruling party.
We, the commoners, can only beg mercy of the Creator for security of life.
