Set up more para-medic institutions

Like physician and nurse, Bangladesh has shortage of medical technologist. Medical technology covers subjects like pharmacy, laboratory, radiography, radiotherapy, physiotherapy, dental hygiene, sanitary inspection etcetera. The country has a good health infrastructure down to union level. Workforce is one of the important components for providing health care services to the yet unreached areas. Government has eight Para-medic institutions throughout the country to educate medical technologists which is very negligible from the demand point of view. There are some private institutions for imparting training in medical technologies but the standard of teaching there is not beyond question. The owners of such private institutions could not come out from profit motive and hence charge very high tuition and other fees from the students which is a big burden for them as they usually come from low-income households. Currntly, one-fourth of the existing posts of medical technologists are vacant due to lack of properly trained up workforce. Whereas millions of youths are unemployed now. There should be one government Para-medic institution in each district.
We hope it will provide scope to train up the required para-medic technicians and offer jobs to many.
