China dominated World Badminton

Badminton is a popular sport in the world. It is a regular discipline both in the Asian Games and the World Olympic having five gold medals in each competition. Considering its sports value, the World Badminton Federation organizes about 145 super series and/ or international badminton tournaments across the globe every year. The biggest of this year’s tournament was World Badminton Championship concluded in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta between 10th and 16th August.
Once again China dominated the competition with three gold medals, one silver and one bronze, hosts Indonesia captured one gold and three bronze, Spain annexed one gold, Denmark clinched one silver and one bronze, while India and Malaysia won one silver respectively. Japan and South Korea earned three and two bronze medals respectively..
China became champions in Men’s singles, Women’s doubles and Mixed doubles, Indonesia became champions in Men’s doubles while Spain lifted Women’s singles title. Chen Long and Carolina Marin are the Men’s and the Women’s singles champions. India’s best hope Saina Nehwal lost to Spain’s Carolina in the Women’s singles final.
But the sad thing is that most of our sports fans missed the semifinal and final matches live because none of our TV channels showed interest. Will we ever find a Sports Channel?
