We pray for the people of Nepal

We are shocked and feeling deep sorrow for the people of Nepal which was struck by a powerful earthquake in which more than six thousand people lost their lives and the death toll may rise further. Thousands are injured and many people are feared to be trapped under the rubbles. The beautiful land is devastated, heritages have crumpled down. The people of Nepal are passing their days in a nightmarish condition. We pray for them. May their ordeal come to an end as soon as possible.
Of all the natural calamities earthquake is the deadliest, it could not be predicted beforehand, in a second hell breaks loose and there is no escape from its destructions. We are feeling very frightened if a powerful earthquake strike us, we will be doomed. Our houses are not built following building codes, experts said that in Dhaka city alone seventy thousand buildings will collapse, a great number of people will die and many more will be injured. There is no preparation for a strong earthquake. Concerned authorities and people must wake up and take necessary steps to minimise the destruction.

The black and white jersey

The Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) is a popular name in the country’s sports arena. The club clinched the Senior Division Football League Championship title 15 times between 1957 and 1999 and during the same period, it was runners up 12 times. It was champion in the Dhaka Metropolitan Football League (in 1993) and in the Independence Cup Football Tournament (5 times, between 1957 and 1966). The club is five times champion in the Federation Cup Football, and in the Ashis-Jabbar Shield Tournament held in Durgapur of West Bengal, India in 1982.
In the international football tournaments, Aga Khan Gold Cup (unofficial Asian Champions’ Cup) held in Dhaka, it was record champions in 1959, 1964 and 1968 and runner up in 1966, 1967 and 1976.
Crowds flock to the stadiums to watch the match of MSC. It means that the club is a source of revenue to the sports federation of any discipline.
But the supporters of the Mohammedan Sporting Club are now displeased with the club management for abandoning the traditional black and white jersey. Any person in the past could easily recognise the club, but now he takes time, because he does not find his favourite jersey.
In this regard, I like to draw the attention of the club management to the Calcutta Mohammedan Sporting Club which has been protecting the traditional black and white jersey.
Our view is that the club management should bring back the tradition, which is the popular demand of every supporter of the club.
